Crossfit is the most ridiculous workout i’ve ever done. Fast, intense, “functional” movements. Ridiculous and yet, we do it, every Monday and Wednesday. Sometimes it can be fun, though, I don’t want to discredit it. For instance, yesterday we deadlifted five reps until failure. Meaning we did repetitions of 5 going up in weight, until we couldn’t lift anymore. Was that the fun part? i’m not sure. I did lift up to 165 pounds, which was fun. But the most fun part, was the music that was playing in the background of the gym. Normally it is some hiphop song i don’t recognize or something that I think is a tim fite song that ends up being rat a tat. But not this time! While we were lifting they played 1) Hit ‘em up style by Blu Cantrell and! 2) Ready or Not by the Fugees. Sure, no one was as excited as me, and yes, i embarrassed myself a little when the trainer looked over at me dancing my butt off like i just discovered the very act of dancing itself. But! sometimes its those little things that make you happy, that make you get up and make a fool of yourself even if it’s a little mai riproi (culturally inappropriate). Sometimes, a little hint of my farang-ness comes out in such a way and, as long as i’m being decently respectful, I embrace it. Another example- how much i’m enjoying the farang kunom of sea salt chocolate that i received in the mail today. I love my raw sugarcane, keomonkang, moo ping, gluay, and yogurt-drink-things as much as any other thai kid being sent to school with their thai kunom, but sometimes, you just wanna dance at school dances!
